Barbourville, Ky. – Charles Ed Fisher, 91, of Barbourville passed away surrounded by loving family Thursday, March 26, 2026. Charles was born October 25, 1934, in Trace Branch Hollow to Finley Fisher and Elizabeth Helton Fisher. Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family above all else.
Charles was a faithful member of Sinking Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed 4-wheeling, fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature. He was known as an outdoorsman, who loved the simple things in life, especially being with his family and attending church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae Smith, and his daughter, Jackie Elliott.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Elsie Collins Fisher; sons, Doyle Fisher and wife Carolyn, of Heidrick, and John Fisher and wife Donna, of Heidrick; his stepdaughter, Judy Smith; his grandchildren: Joanie Elliott, Kimberly Broughton, Michelle Miller, Mindy Hensley, and Hannah Fisher; and his great-grandchildren: Timmy, Devon, Khloe, Noah, Landon, Natalie, Gavin, Mackenzie, and Taylor. Charles also leaves behind his long-time companion, his dog, Honey.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 30, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel. On Tuesday, March 31, the Fisher family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM at the Sinking Valley Baptist Church, in Heidrick. Reverend Vernon Morris and Brother Ryan Stamper will officiate. The Sinking Valley Baptist Church will perform musical tributes. Burial will follow in the Fisher Cemetery, Trace Branch.
The Fisher family has chosen friends and family to serve as Casket Bearers.
The Fisher family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home for visitiation, Monday, March 30, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Tuesday, March 31, the family will receive friends at the Sinking Valley Baptist Church in Heidrick from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM. Reverend Vernon Morris and Brother Ryan Stamper will officate. Musical Tributes will be provided by the Sinking Valley Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Fisher Cemetery.
