Mrs. Debbie Ross, 67, of Barbourville, passed away Thursday morning, April 9, 2026 at Baptist Health Corbin. She was born March 14, 1959 in Pineville, the daughter of the late Elmer and Edith Pillon Chavies.
Debbie was the Office Manager for Admissions with Union Commonwealth University, where she welcomed many students and their families to campus. She was dedicated to her work and devoted to creating events that promoted the very best of Union. Additionally, Debbie was a graduate of Union, earning her Associate of Applied Science in Office Administration & Business Administration with a minor in Management and later completing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Debbie was a member of the St. Julian Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting and taking walks out of doors. Debbie loved animals and spending time with her cat, Molly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Abner and four brothers, Edward, Larry, Elmer Jr. and Donnie Chavies.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Chavies of Newport News, VA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her Union family.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Conway Boatman Chapel on the campus of Union Commonwealth University Friday, April 17 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Larry Sowders officiating.
Friends may visit at the chapel Friday after 12 Noon until the service time.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
