Mr. Frank A. “Buck” Shelton Sr., 81, of Flat Lick, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 26, 2026 at The Heritage in Corbin. He was the son of the late Jess and Maggie Davis Shelton born February 25, 1945 in Knox County.
Frank was a former drill press operator in the coal mines and a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church at Golden’s Creek. He loved the great outdoors and spent many hours searching for rocks and minerals. Above all, Frank took great pride in caring for his family, his beloved wife, Darlene, and his pride and joy, his forever “Baby Boy,” Frank Jr.
He also enjoyed attending gospel singings and participating in the many daily activities at The Heritage, where he especially loved playing Bingo with his fellow residents.
On February 21, 1980, he united in marriage with Darlene Mills and to this union a son was born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; sisters, Clara Matlock and Margie Morgan and bothers, Ralph and Clyde Shelton.
Survivors include his loving son, Frank Shelton Jr. of Corbin; a sister, Sue Morgan of Barbourville; several nieces and nephews; among other relatives and dear friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday between 12 Noon and 2 P.M. with a private burial to follow.
Casket bearers will be Reggie Morgan, Eric Morgan, Michael Wilson, Mark Monroe, Buster Matlock and Danny Morgan.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of The Heritage for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Frank. They would also like to thank the staff of the Knox Funeral Home for the professionalism, support and care shown during their time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Heritage Activities Department so that other residents may experience the same joy and companionship that Frank found in their programs.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
