Hazel Jarie Farmer, age 95, of Barbourville, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, August 27, 2026 in the Barbourville Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of J.B. Farmer and the daughter of Travis Gibson and Cora (Shelton) Gibson. She was born in Hubbs Creek on June 10, 1931. Hazel believed in the Baptist faith and had been an Avon representative for many years. She had been a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Farmer, her parents, Travis and Cora Gibson and two daughters, Teresa Parsley and Cecelia Doreen Farmer.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her daughter Rhonda Evans and husband Allen, grandchildren, David Evans and wife Maureen, Andrew Evans and wife Leigh, Gary Parsley, Jeffrey Parsley, Ryan Parsley and Steven Parsley, great-grandchildren, Andrew Evans, II, James Evans, Jonah Evans, Megan Parsley, Zachary Parsley, Bradley Parsley and Jazmine Moxley and husband Niko, one great-grandson, Colson, and a step-sister, Etta Maxine Vanover. She also leaves behind special neighbors Ritza and Archie Miller as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Farmer will be conducted on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tyler Shields officiating. Hazel will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery beside her husband. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 1:00.
