Jo Anne Stapleton, age 79 of Georgetown, KY and formerly of Coalport, departed this life on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 in Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on December 26, 1946 in Trosper, Kentucky, to the late Henry and Lizzie (Collins) Baker. She was loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, gardening, and playing bingo.
In 1965, she married Richard Stapleton of Pennington Gap, VA; and to this union three daughters were born. She would later raise a granddaughter and great-granddaughter as her own.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lizzie Baker; her daughter, Lora Stapleton; her brothers, Everett Baker and John Henry Baker; her sisters, Betty Lee Baker, Mildred Farley, Marie Hughes, Susie Hamilton, Pauline Jackson, and Una Dempsey.
Left to mourn her passing is her daughter, Dayna Rose and husband Jeff of Georgetown; her daughter, Michele Rena Stapleton and husband Danny of Flat Lick; her granddaughter, Leya Vanhoose and husband Ray of Sandy Hook; her great-granddaughter, Tori Stapleton of Somerset; her grandson, Kyle Gafford and wife Marisol of Lexington ; her grandson, Bam Garcia and wife Jessie of Georgetown; her granddaughter, Lora Garcia of Georgetown; her granddaughter, Mandie Coleman and husband Micah of Georgetown; her granddaughter, Dayna Jo Hubbard of Sandy Hook; and her granddaughter, Ronni Richie and husband Matthew of Georgetown. She also leaves behind many great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and long-time friends.
Funeral services for Joanne will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Collins officiating. She will be laid to rest in Van Cemetery in Coalport. Pallbearers will be Kyle Gafford, Jeff Rose, Danny Mills, Bam Garcia, Matthew Richie, Chuck Felts, Robert Fondaw, Micah Coleman and Nicholas Scott.
Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
