Ms. Helen Hamilton, 79, of Barbourville, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 26, 2023 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lawnzo and Anna Rose Hembree born September 26, 1944 at Wheeler.
Helen was a homemaker and believed in the Holiness faith. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marie Clouse, Raymond Gray, Violet Gibson, Gilbert Gray, Brenda Hembree and Linda Black; a son, Kenny Simpson; a grandson, Jeffery Sears and former spouses, Kenneth Simpson and Clyde Hamilton.
Survivors include her loving children, Jeff Sears and wife, Pam, of KayJay, Darren Simpson of Beckley, WV and Melissa Buchanan and husband, Sam, of Artemus; sisters, Sue Bowling of Ohio, Evelyn Stevenson and Barbara Hibbard and husband, Danny, all of Barbourville; a brother, Larry Hembree and wife, Barb, of Williamsburg; treasured grandchildren, Samantha Wells and husband, Ryan, Jason Simpson, Brittany Belcher and husband, Michael, Natasha Underwood and husband, Andrew, and Amber Bullard and husband, Jeremiah; great grandchildren, Brooke Sears, Carly Bullard, Peyton Sears, Grace Bullard, Micah Jade Underwood, Zakelin Wells, Jaylix Wells and Lilah Underwood; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, October 31 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Glenn Collins and Rev. Charles Henson officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jason Simpson, Ryan Wells, Michael Belcher, Andrew Underwood, Jeremiah Bullard and Brett Frederick. Honorary bearers will be Jeffery Sears and Ken Bowling.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Barbourville ARH Hospital, especially Trinity Blevins and Amber Grubb for the excellent care Helen received.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
