Obituary for Helen Nora Barnes (1946-2026)

Mrs. Helen Nora Barnes, age 79 of Hinkle, departed this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 in the Rockcastle Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of Eugene Barnes and the daughter of Steve and Velva Price, born to them on October 25, 1946 in Knox County.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Barnes, her parents, Steve and Velva Price, her sister, Betty Price, her brother, Randall Price and her mother and father-in-law, Jim and Ruby Barnes.

Left behind to mourn her passing, her children, James Barnes and wife Evonda of Hinkle, Tammy Mills of Barbourville, Amy Marion and husband Dale of Hinkle, grandchildren, Jacob Broughton, Nathan Broughton, Jason Mills, Ayden Marion, Amanda Eversole and Shelby Hicks, great-grandchildren, Kenley Mills, Cameron Mills, Kaysen Mills, Wyatt Mills, Ava Broughton, Cooper Broughton, Gaige Broughton, Canon Broughton, Kaelin Broughton, Malaki McCulley, McKenna McCulley, Cheyanna Hicks, Charleigh Hicks, Raiden Hicks, Jae West, Gunner Eversole, Grayson Eversole and Abby Eversole, siblings, Terry Price and wife Vina of Hinkle, Gary Price and wife Teresa of London, Donnie Price and wife Linda of Hinkle, Steve Price and wife Teresa of Bimble, Diane Smith and husband Doug of Barbourville and Janice Rice and husband Ed Arthur of Hinkle. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

The family would like to send special thanks to her caregiver, Delilah Partin along with the Rockcastle Regional Respiratory Care Center doctors and staff, especially, Dr. Karen Saylor, her therapist, Mikayla Nichols, and her aide Melissa Powell for all their compassion and care that was shown to the family during her illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barnes will be conducted on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Mike Collins officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Price Cemetery in Hinkle. Pallbearers will be, Ayden Marion, Jacob Broughton, Nathan Broughton, Malaki McCulley, Raiden McCulley, Travis Deaton, Donnie Price, Tony Tepesano and Johnny Hensley. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00.
