Mrs. Joyce Elaine Stewart, age 71 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at her home. She was the daughter of Tom Deaton and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Deaton born to them on May 19, 1952 in Knox County. Joyce was a member of the Hughes Hill Holiness Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, working in the greenhouse, raising chickens and peacocks and all animals.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mary Deaton, two brothers, Virgil Lee Deaton, Sr., and William James “Bill” Deaton, a niece Sharon Deaton and two nephews, James Lee Deaton and Jimmy Robert Deaton.
Left behind to mourn her passing, two daughters, Debbie Deaton and husband Earnest Ray of Girdler, and Lisa Stewart of Jarvis, two sons, Steven Stewart and wife Liz and Rodney Stewart and wife Stacy all of Jarvis, two brothers, Dallas Deaton of Greenroad and Basil Deaton of Girdler and one sister, Brenda Deaton of Hinkle, eight grandchildren, Natasha Mahan and husband Justin, Brian Gittens and wife Felicia, Angel Sabbatis and husband Dustin, Brittany Elaine Eversole and husband Anthony, Chrystal Renaye Bentley Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Tanner Stewart and Ashley Scott, eleven great grandchildren, Aiden, Patrick, Felix, Ryland, Emery, Blakely, Axel, Kayson, Brayden, Joseph and Tristan, a special loved one Reed Stewart and a special friend, Sandra Smith. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stewart will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery at Greenroad. Pallbearers will be Kevin Bargo, Josh Bargo, Justin Mahan, Brian Gittens, Terry Davidson, Dustin Sabbatis and Anthony Eversole. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
