Rev. Jeffery Allen Lewis, 60, of Cannon, passed away Friday evening, September 11, 2026 at his home. He was born November 28, 1965 in Richmond, IN, the son of the late Rev. Alvin L. and Mary Bailey Lewis.
Jeff was a former truck driver and member of the Rossland Holiness Church and Lovell Church. Jeff lived his life one day at a time with God at his side. He loved serving the Lord, preaching His word and teaching Sunday school. He witnessed to and prayed for people every where he went. He was a God fearing man and loved the Lord with all his heart.
He enjoyed the out of doors farming, fishing, hunting and woodworking. Jeff also enjoyed a good cup of coffee, spending time with his grandchildren and riding his lawn mower with his sidekick, Phoenix. He also worked with Justin and Phoenix building decks.
On February 2, 1985, he united in marriage with Margaret Ann Lindsey and to this union three children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandsons, Charles Scott Adkins and William Noah Lewis; father-in-law, Charles E. Lindsey and his grandparents.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 41 years, Margaret Lewis of Cannon; three children, Dallas Lewis and wife, Noelle, of Georgetown, Heather Brooks and husband, Brandon, of Muncie, IN and Justin Lewis and wife, Lucinda, of Cannon; a sister, Penny McCracken and husband, Rev. Don, of Williamsburg, IN; treasured grandchildren, Jazmily, Vivian, Phoenix, Matthew, Hannah, Conner, Braiden, Brody, Tanner, Miranda, Isabella, Emily and Gabriella; nieces and nephew, Katie Thompson and husband, Doug, Savannah, Frank Jesse James, Cheyenna and Chantella McCracken and Samantha Morgan; great niece, Athena Jean Ferry; great nephew, Jay Rock Angel; special mother-in-law, Eddie Mae Lindsey, who he considered a best friend and spent countless hours talking with her about the Lord; among other loved ones and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, September 16 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Fred Disney, Bro. Tony Messer, Rev. Orangie Wheat and Rev. Stevie Hughes officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Brandon Brooks, Raymond Wheat, Matthew Adkins, James Wheat, Phoenix Lewis, Dallas Lewis, Doug Thompson, Deron Rice and Rev. Anthony Browning. Serving as honorary bearers will be Rev. Donnie McCracken, Jesse McCracken, Junior Gard, Dr. Terry North, Cindy Goodin, the Overbay family and the staff of Knox Funeral Home.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Hinkle family, Tommy Mills, the Richland Volunteer Fire Department and the Knox County EMS.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
