Barbourville, Ky. – Tarah-Lee Rachel Kaplan, 48, of Barbourville, KY, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 in her home. She was born December 20, 1977 in Royal Oak, Michigan. She was the daughter of Milton Robert and Dr. Neva Hammons Kaplan.
As a toddler, her parents moved to Morristown, then later to Bernardsville, New Jersey. By her early elementary years, it was learned that she would be challenged with developmental delays and a mild seizure disorder. She was blessed to have loving parents who poured their compassion and devotion upon her. The family moved to San Antonio, Texas when Tarah-Lee was a young adolescent. She continued her education with home schooling and achieved a high school diploma in 1995. Shortly after, the family moved to Barbourville, Kentucky. She lived in her beautiful home for the remainder of her life.
A closely bonded family, Tarah-Lee was indulged in the things she enjoyed. She loved cats, Disney, big time wrestling, and watching movies with her father. Tarah-Lee honored holidays, anniversaries and birthdays with enthusiasm. She would daily sit on the porch to watch the traffic and soak in some fresh air. She was known for her tenacious persistence and resourcefulness. Tarah-Lee was appreciative of the care she received from her parents and caregivers. Rosemary Broughton has been a consistent and loving caregiver for Tarah-Lee over the years.
Tarah-Lee is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis Michael Glasscock. Her grandparents include Jeff Hammons, Esceline Bargo Hammons Hawkins, Mollie and Bennet Kaplan. Her surviving sibling is Patricia Glasscock Drake (Mark) of Michigan.
Her legacy will be one of giving and compassion through her donation to the Network of Hope.
The funeral service will be conducted 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 9 at the Hopper Funeral Home, 302 N. Broadway, Barbourville, KY 40906. Visitation will occur for one hour prior, at 11:00 AM. Tarah-Lee will be laid to rest alongside her parents and brother at the Barbourville Cemetery.
Donations in her honor may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation Kentuckiana or to the American Diabetes Foundation.
