Obituary for Helen Walker (1932-2026)

Mrs. Helen Walker, age 94 of Flat Lick, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, May 4, 2026 at her home with her family by her side. She was the widow of Ernest Walker and the daughter of John Hensley and Rosie (Bingham) Hensley. She was born in Knox County on February 14, 1932.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Walker, one son, Ernest Douglas Walker, her parents, John and Rosie Hensley, her beloved grandparents, Matt and Mary Jane Bingham, and her son-in-law, Wendell Bond.

Helen was the oldest living member of Dewitt Baptist church. She had been a member since 1947. She was a kind, compassionate lady who loved babysitting all the children throughout the years. 

Left behind to mourn her passing are her four children, Bruce Walker and wife Sherry of Girdler, Mike Walker and wife Marcie, Dorene Bond, and Karen Walker, all of Flat Lick, six grandchildren, Wade Douglas Walker and wife Carla, Novel Jonathan Bond, Zachariah Bruce Walker, Ezekiel Bradford Walker, and wife Kait, Kendra Wyatt, and Malloree Rose Turner and husband Austin, three great-grandchildren, Jordan Douglas Walker, Chloe Grace Walker, and Bronx Cade Turner and a great-granddaughter on the way, Zoey Claire Walker, a special friend, Deanna Harmon, her cousins, Jim Matt Melton, Johnny Melton, and Ethel Mills. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family, friends and neighbors.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Bastin at London Women’s Care, Hinkle Hometown Drug, Lovella Mills, Mary Gambrel, Colby and Madison Patterson, Bill and Gerry Brown, and Caroline Smith for all of their help, support, and care.

Funeral services for Mrs. Walker will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Kennon Roark and Rev. Bo Henson officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Binghamtown Cemetery beside her husband. Pallbearers will be Marty Smith, Randy Mills, Brett Bingham, Dean Bingham, Gerald Bingham, Wayne Hall, and Ronnie Hubbard. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 3:00 p.m.
