Mrs. Tressie Mae Cox Stewart, age 83 of Barbourville, was born in Knox County, KY on February 13, 1936 to the late Richard and Rosie Messer Cox and departed this life on Thursday, November 7, 2019 in the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed gardening, caring for her flowers, cooking, sewing, making Quilts, and time with family and friends especially the grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, her husband: Laymon Stewart; a son: Ricky Stewart; 2 daughters: Hope Ball and Margaret Fontana; 2 brothers: Bob Cox and Bill Cox; 2 sisters: Geraldine Hanner, and Myrtle Marie Cunningham; and 2 granddaughters: Jamie Hale and Holly Fontana preceded her in death.

 

She is survived by her loving children: Alice Collett and husband Larry of Barbourville, Gail Stewart of Woodbine, Melody Baker and husband Todd of Flat Lick, Jason Stewart and wife Chelsi of Rockholds and Jerry Stewart of Barbourville; 2 brothers: Jimmy Cox of Flat Lick and John Cox and wife Sally of Girdler; 2 sisters: Chelsie Fredrick and husband Lark of Flat Lick and Troy Roark of Michigan; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Tressie Stewart will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. with Brother Justin Mills and Rev. Scott Phipps officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cox Family Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.  In Lieu of Flowers the family request that donations be made to the Barbourville Funeral Home to help with the expenses.  Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

 

Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home Saturday Evening from 6 to 9 P.M. and Sunday from 10 A.M. to the funeral hour at 2.
