Union’s Messer Earns AAC Golfer of the Week Accolades

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College’s Whitney Messer earned Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women’s Golfer of the Week for the first time, the league announced on Monday.

This is the fifth week the awards have been issued by the AAC this season.

Messer finished tied for third after day one at the East Tennessee Collegiate Tournament but claimed the individual win with a two-day score of 145, breaking the program record for lowest two-round score set by her earlier the season with a 148. She also tied her record with a 72 lowest first-round score set on Sept. 16.

The Barbourville, Ky., native earned her second medalist honors on the season and of her collegiate career.

Union will close out the fall portion of the 2019-20 season at the AAC Fall Preview at the Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga., on Oct. 14-15.
