Knox County declared in a State of Emergency by Judge-Executive Mike Mitchell.

Knox County Judge-Executive Mike Mitchell has declared Knox County in a State of Emergency effective July 7, 2019 due to the flooding that occurred in the Kay Jay Community. Mitchell said that the declaration will remain in place until the disaster is over.

“Declaring this State of Emergency will allow Knox County Emergency Management and the Knox County Fiscal Court to request assistance from state, federal agencies and other organizations that assist communities during disasters as such the American Red Cross,” said Mitchell.

Mitchell went on to say, “When Knox County is in need this community comes together and supports each other. I want to thank the community volunteers, first responders, Knox County Emergency Management and anyone that has assisted the Kay Jay community in their time of need.”
