Mr. James D. Gregory, 72, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2023 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was the son of the late Albert L. and Josephine York Gregory born on July 6, 1951 in Barbourville.
James was a former data technician and attended the AME United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he was a drill sergeant, a member of the mortar division and also served in Germany. James enjoyed watching old movies and kept up with everyone on Facebook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Brenda Joyce Gregory and Bennetta Ann Hopkins; a brother-in-law, Todd White and a sister-in-law, Wanda Gregory.
Survivors include his sister, Shirley White of Louisville; three brothers, Myron Gregory of Owensboro, Stanley Gregory and Albert Gregory Jr. both of Barbourville; a special nephew, Quincy Gregory; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A graveside service will be conducted in the Rosenwald Cemetery Sunday, November 26 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Charles Tinsley officiating.
Casket bearers will be his nephews.
Family and friends will gather at the cemetery prior to the service time.
