Ms. Juanita Hamilton, 91, of London, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2026 at the St. Joseph Hospital in London. She was born March 20, 1935 in at Brices Creek, the daughter of the late Riley and Ethel Shelton Burnett.
Juanita was a former seamstress with Warner’s, a member of the Young Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed attending other churches with family members. She was known to have a green thumb and loved tending to her beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed crocheting, traveling with family out west and to the beach, gardening, canning and cooking, especially chicken and dumplings, strawberry cake and banana pudding. Juanita had a sweet tooth and was often seen with a Reese Cup in hand.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel May Burnett; brothers, Alvin, Leonard and Riley Jr. Burnett and a grandson, Marcus Jerome Murphy.
Survivors include her loving children, Sharon Faye Snell of London, Theresa Lynn Hamilton of Barbourville, Clyde Dewayne Hamilton and wife, Paula, of Corbin and Debbie Ann Haslam and husband, Don, of Oak Ridge, NC; a brother, Ronnie Lee Burnett and wife, Staci, of Williamsburg; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four great-great grandsons; among many other family members and friends who were blessed to know her.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, March 25 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Mike Collins and Rev. Garnet Barrett officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Burnett Cemetery at Brices Creek.
Casket bearers will be Chris Witt, Seth Napier, Joshua Napier, Brian Abrams, Kyle Davis and Dustin Beard.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
