Mr. Terry Don Smith, age 71 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, May 4, 2026 in the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was born in Knox County on November 16, 1954 the son of Lois and Clara Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Clara Smith, two brothers, Lester Smith and Earnie Smith and one sister, Troy Logsdon.
Terry was a member of the Concord Baptist Church where he was song leader for many years. He was very musically talented and loved playing music and singing with his siblings. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and four-wheel riding. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family especially his grandsons who he adored. He had also been a carpenter and built cabinets and homes.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving and caring former wife, Diane Carnes who was always by his side, his two children, Tara Brown of Cannon and Nicholas Aaron Smith of Jackson, Tennessee, his grandsons, Aiden Dane Brown and Daniel Edward Brown both of Cannon, his two brothers, Earl Smith and wife Betty of Barbourville and Preston Smith and wife Mildred of Flat Lick, two sisters, Aneda Warren of Barbourville and Linda Stewart and husband Bill of Union, Kentucky. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Abner officiating. He will be laid to rest in the W.H. Smith Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be, Aiden Dane Brown, Daniel Edward Brown, Jeff Banfield, Lindsey Grubb, Tucker Smith and Steve Smith. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
