Union’s Jacobs Sets Discus School Record at LWC Classic

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Sophomore Paige Jacobs highlighted the day for Union College at the Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) Classic on Thursday as she set the school record in the discus throw.

There were no team scores in either the men or women’s competitions, which drew several area teams to the field.

Jacobs recorded a sixth-place finish in the discus with a distance of 35.00 meters, narrowly edging the previous mark of 34.97 set by Maddie Peterson in the 2011 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet.

Other highlights for the Union women include:

  • 1500 meter run: Sara Ledford, sixth (6:17.28);
  • 5000 meter run: Ledford, fourth (25:05.34);
  • 400 meter hurdles: Maya Homer, seventh (1:12.55);
  • Triple jump: Autumn Crump, third (10.21 meters); Tamia Wade, fourth (10.11 meters);
  • Shot put: Ta’Leah Adams, eighth (11.40 meters);
  • Discus: Molly Diamon, seventh (33.20 meters);
  • Hammer throw: Diamon, seventh (37.16 meters);
  • Javelin: Sharika Ingram, fifth (27.54 meters).

Michaiah Winfield led the Union men, as he posted the team’s highest finish and placed in the top eight in three events. He took third in the high jump at 1.95 meters, while placing eighth in the long jump (6.46 meters) and seventh in the triple jump (12.09 meters).

  • 400 meter dash: EdRico Brisco, sixth (52.05 seconds);
  • 1500 meter run: Mitchell Trent, seventh (4:39.00); Cruz Ramos, eighth (4:39.80);
  • 110 meter hurdles: Raveen Kent, fourth (15.95 seconds);
  • 400 meter hurdles: Kent, sixth (57.41 seconds);
  • 4×400 relay: Brisco, Dominique Lewis, William Johnson, Ramos, third (3:33.03);
  • High jump: Michaiah Winfield, third (1.95 meters);
  • Long jump: Santerrius Barlow, seventh (6.51 meters); Winfield, eighth (6.46 meters);
  • Triple jump: Winfield, seventh (12.09 meters);
  • Hammer throw: Stephen Gray, seventh (36.93 meters).
